3 Secrets

  1. An easy book marketing win: What tools, people, and/or products do you mention in your book? Reach out to them to promote the book! I rave about onlinejobs.ph in part 2 of Before The Bestseller which teaches authors how to hire, train, and manage a virtual assistant. Start by just sharing your love for them. I could imagine that John, (The CEO of OnlineJobs, will find the book to help him in his promotion of the platform to authors. Stay tuned next week to see if he responds 🙂 My pitch to John, the CEO of the company that I just sent this morning:

  2. A weekly goal perspective: Now that we’re passed the launch, our team has transitioned to, “how do we make sure each of the following happens every single week?”. If it’s not happening, it’s because a system isn’t there to support it. So, we go back and either assign a task to a team-member to make sure it happens or schedule out weekly time on my calendar to get it done.

Our weekly promotion list (to occur for the next 50 weeks)

     - A Partner shouts it out
    – An ebook promo goes live
    – FB Ads Running
    – Amazon Ads Running
    – We send print copy to every author we meet with
    - 5 Publishing companies get a package
    – A guest podcast is released
    – An online publications shouts me/the book out
The italicized ones are what’s currently occurring. The non-italicized is what’s yet to be systematized. I don’t stress about having it all ready out of the gates as I’m going for a 2 year launch. If we can just get part of one additional marketing tactic built each week, I know we’re on pace to having a strong weekly book marketing strategy. Consistent progress is what’s important. I’m not interested in putting a ton of work into getting one item done this week if I know we don’t have a system to support it for the next 50 weeks.

Like our friend Allan Dib writes, “Random Acts of Marketing Don’t Work”.
  3. Scientifically backed Productivity: For the tasks you can’t outsource, how do you make the most of your time?

The science is in and it says that to-do lists are vastly less effective than a to-do calendar.

Whether you or someone working for you is managing your book marketing, time blocking is the way to go. For example, I use Google Calendar to block out what I’ll be working on when.

Block out an hour for researching and making a list of specific micro-communities to focus on .
Block out an hour for working on texting contacts to leave Amazon ratings.
Block out an hour to write a job description for your virtual assistant position.

It’s a fantastic way to hold yourself accountable at the end of a week. You have a record of how you spent your time, which makes it easier to start asking yourself the question: Can I get someone else to do this for me?

Here’s an example from last week (you’ll also notice OOO: Deep Work at the top – I block one full day each week for no-meetings which allows me to get the important stuff done without interruption):

2 Links

  1. A review link is a custom link for your book that you send people to so they don’t get confused trying to figure out where to leave a review.

Click on ratings under your book title:

Then on the left side of the screen you’ll see write a customer review

Right click on that link and select copy link address

    My example is here.
Wait! If you’ve read Before The Bestseller already, you should like totally leave a review while you’re there 🙂
  2. Incredibly grateful for the time The Almanack of Naval Ravikant author, Eric Jorgenson, took to come on the podcast and share the wisdom he’s learned from following along with Naval’s journey. If a little inspiration will help you get what you need done today, have a listen to our chat here.
