3 Secrets

  1. Seeding Effectively: Why did Rob Fitzpatrick only need to seed 1,000 copies of The Mom Test or Write Useful Books?

Because his 1,000 were purely people whose problem he was solving. Promoting your book to your college friends or getting your friends to buy it is like just creating an author website: It’s instantaneous gratification.

    However,

a week or two later, you realize it did nothing to get your book into the hands of the right people. Now, maybe you are solving your family and friends’ problems.

    However,

if you’re not putting your book in the hands of people whose problem you’re solving, those people won’t recommend your book, and there will be no further word of mouth.

Focus your efforts on getting your book in the hands of readers whose problem you’re solving, and you’ll save years of effort and thousands of dollars.
  2. More reviews: When someone reaches out to you to compliment you on the book, don’t just ask them to leave a review. Ask them what they like most about your book, then ask them to copy and paste that into your unique Amazon review link. That way, they don’t get caught up in not knowing what to write and how to leave a review.
  3. For the technically inclined: Make.com is becoming our new favorite tool for automation. We’re currently testing auto-posting of quote cards on our LinkedIn and Instagram accounts. Everything from identifying quotes, to filling out the post template and actually posting is all handled without any human touch repeated week in and week out.
