Reader, 3 Secrets Before today, if someone clicked on your ad and bought an audiobook, there was no way to know it came from the ad. Now you can send people directly to the audiobook product page. Now you can see exactly how many audiobook orders are coming from those who clicked on your ads. For some authors, audiobook listeners might make up as much as 50% of their readership. About time! 2. Budget relationship time the way you budget work time Jayson Gaignard just wrapped one of the most successful nonfiction book launches on Kickstarter ever.
How did he do it? His book is about building relationships, and those relationships are exactly what made the launch work.” When he has 30 free minutes, he asks himself who he can invest in, then does it. And when he admires someone’s work, he reaches out cold with no ask attached. In fact, that’s why I invited him on the podcast…
3. Passion is contagious Everyone wants the shortcut, the intro, the cold email template, the podcast that blows them up. Jayson’s answer, when I pushed him on how to get people interested in you: be worth knowing. Take your passion seriously. “They’re in the game for a long time and then there’s something that pushes them over the edge” His example is Andrew Huberman. Joe Rogan’s podcast is what most people point to as the moment he blew up. But before that, he was a Stanford researcher doing serious work at the highest level for years with almost no reach. Rogan didn’t create the value. He uncorked it. Almost nobody grows incrementally. They grind in obscurity, then something tips. And here’s the part that ties it back to relationships; passion is contagious. Jayson talks about a guy who dug the well on his farm, about sixty years old, and simply loves wells. Jayson hung on every word. That’s the whole thing. When somebody reaches out to him genuinely lit up about what they’re doing, he wants to support the journey. When somebody reaches out because their business book needs sales, he can tell, and so can everyone else. 2 Links
1 Book Early 29 was riddled with injuries and less-than optimal health A torn quad. An ankle injury. More weight than my knees were built to handle. It seemed like every time I was finally healed, something else would pop up and set me back. Finally the last 6 months have been injury-less. What changed? I’ve transitioned to training for longevity. My longtime friend and mentor Mike Capuzzi just released Resilience Rituals. I’m obviously bias but many of the rituals he talks about have left me injury free and 30lbs (I’m not kidding) lighter. The subtitle says for men over 50, but even this almost-30-year-old is feeling blessed to have found it as I continue on living to be almost as capable at 80 as I am at 30. 1 star = I do not recommend Grab your copy here.
