1. Releasing a new book in 2026?

Getting everyone in your launch team to leave their review on launch day is like herding cats. Anyone who has released a book before knows that launch day has enough going on.

So instead of trying to do it all on launch day…

Create a Google Form or Doc where everyone on your launch team will leave their reviews before the book actually launches.

That way, on launch day, all they have to do is copy and paste it to your direct review link on Amazon.

This also creates a real deadline for people to write their reviews by.

2. How to produce content that accomplishes your goals

The biggest mistake I see authors make after releasing their book is the death of their curiosity.

If you’re
posting on whatever social media of your choosing to promote your book,
writing to your subscribers via Substack, kit, or whatever list management service,
hosting virtual or in-person events,

then you should continue to be a scientist in your field.
​
It’s not only the best way to keep people engaged for the long term (by continuously providing new, relevant, and undiscovered truths) but also the easiest way for you to produce content consistently and somewhat effortlessly.

How to continue to be a scientist in your field:
1. Learn from experts via your podcast
2. Read books (shocking!)
3. Reader and Client interactions

Then, you don’t have to struggle to come up with what you’ll write about this week, while also ensuring that your audience will be getting fresh new perspectives and information that keeps them coming back.

I told you not to podcast in 2026 IF your main goal is to just promote your book…UNLESS you’re also hosting your podcast to continue learning from other experts and develop new insights.

This will keep you podcasting even if no one ever listens. It’s what’s gotten us to 167 episodes of Before The Bestseller even when those early shows only had a dozen listeners. (Now it’s 400 :))

A little bit of recycling with your content is okay but if that’s all you’re doing, you will lose your audience and fail to attract a new one.

3. Increase the deliverability of your email newsletter

Did you notice anything missing in last week’s email?

I invited readers of this newsletter to an event but instead of posting a link to sign up, I invited them to email me back.

Besides enjoying the ability to connect with readers 1:1, asking for readers to email me back accomplished another goal as well: increasing how many people receive this newsletter in their primary inbox.

If readers respond to your newsletter, you’ll be marked safe by their email provider while also improving how you’re viewed by your own provider.

I’m incredibly grateful to receive a handful of kind messages and requests from readers each week but this tip resulted in over 20 readers responding to last week’s newsletter.

Have a tool you want to share? A podcast episode you want to share? Some sort of sign up? Invite readers to simply email you back for it.

Instead of sending it in your NL, ask your audience to email you for it. Maybe not all the time (as you don’t want to add too much extra work for your reader), but once a month or once a quarter. You’ll create that 1:1 connection and improve the deliverability of your newsletter.
